The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State for the 2026 governorship election, Benjamin Kayode Adereti, has commended the leadership of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, for sustaining the institution’s reputation for academic excellence and steady infrastructural development.
Adereti gave the commendation on Monday during the university’s 65th anniversary celebration, where he praised the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, for his leadership and contributions to the institution’s growth.
According to him, the university has continued to distinguish itself as one of Nigeria’s foremost centres of learning through sound administration, a commitment to academic excellence, and strategic investments in infrastructure.
He noted that the progress recorded by the institution reflects the dedication of its management and stakeholders to maintaining OAU’s legacy as a leading higher education institution in the country.
Adereti also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Adejare Bello as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, describing the appointment as a demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening tertiary education through experienced and capable leadership.
The APC deputy governorship candidate further congratulated recipients of awards and honours presented during the anniversary celebration, saying the recognitions were a reflection of their outstanding contributions to the university, national development, and service to humanity.
He urged the honourees to continue upholding the values of excellence, integrity, and selfless service, while serving as role models for future generations and ambassadors of the institution’s enduring legacy.
