More facts have emerged why the Nigerian Army is still discreetly searching for one of the living to the massacre of protesters during the popular EndSARS protest at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

Real Points Report reported some few months ago that the Nigerian military had ordered the search for one Samson Olalekan Kuyebi who narrowly escaped death after he was presumed to have died and carried to the MRS Hospital at Bonny Camp Barracks in Lagos. A nurse discovered among the deposited dead body at the hospital that he was alive.

Sources that are familiar with the case at the Bonny Camp revealed that despite that the soldiers are not yet apprehended Kuyebi up till the time of filing this report, the young man is not yet safe.

“You know when the authority is bent on doing something, the case may be open for years. That is the situation with the young man who escaped from the MRS Hospital.

“I can tell you that all hands are on deck to get him because the authority believes that he knew too much about the killing at the Lekki toll gate during the EndSARS protest.

“Though efforts to get him have proved abortive since the order was given, I think those in charge won’t relent, especially when every October since 2020, there used to be an anniversary being staged by some civil society activists to mark and remember the killings at the Lekki toll gate during the EndSARS protest. This used to bring back memories of what happened during that time,” a senior military officer who pleaded for anonymity told Real Points Report at the weekend.

However, a civil rights activist based in Lagos, Okoro John said in an interview with Real Points Report that he prayed to God that the devil’s hands of the soldiers will not apprehend Samson Olalekan Kuyebi.

According to him, “I am still surprised that someone will still be looking for this young man. I believe this is a deliberate move to bury the truth of the government’s denial of the killing on that fateful 20th October 2020. It was a fact that they didn’t want to admit that it happened.

“My prayer for the young man is that God will not let them see him to apprehend,” John said.
