Rivers Hoopers will be featuring in the inaugural edition of the Louis Edem Foundation Invitational tournament in Lagos State.
The 10-team tournament will hold from Monday, 6th of February to Saturday, 11th 2023 at the indoor sports hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The teams have been grouped into two groups of five each with Hoopers drawn in Group B alongside Spintex Knights of Ghana, Ebun Comets, Unilag and Gidi Giants.
While newly crowned champions of Nigeria Basketball league and Basketball Africa League representatives, Kwara Falcons are drawn in A with Lagos Legends, Police Baton, Raptors and Ogun Warlords.
The KingsMen play their opening game against Spintex Knights on Tuesday at 12 noon.
The champions of the one week tournament will take home two million naira grand prize while runners-up will receive one million naira from the organizers.
Louis Edem Ekpeyong, a two-time Nigerian basketball league most valuable player and former member of the D’Tigers is hosting the championship in honour of his father who passed away during the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020.
