A Lagos-based journalist has been declared wanted by the Nigeria Police in Lagos.

John Oludaisi Olorunsola, who works with a Lagos’ digital newspaper, Independent News Express, might have incurred the wrath of the power that be in the country with his news reports, exposing top officials of the government and the security agencies of being responsible for the insecurity in the country.

According to the exclusive information our Crime Reporter got from the police sources, Olorunsola was earlier invited by the police authority sometime in August 2022, but he failed to honour the invitation.

This time around, Olorunsola was invited to report to the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command Headquarters in Ikeja on or before 15th December 2022.

The content of the letter reads: “The Office of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command Headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos invites you for questioning and interrogation about your news reports targeting at the Nigerian government and the security agencies, thereby under manning national security and your engagement in homosexual/bisexual activities that are illegal in the Nigerian society.

“We recall that you failed to honour our invitation through a letter dated 22 August 2022.

“You are to report to the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command Headquarters in Ikeja on or before 15th December 2022

“Failure not to honour this invitation, legal action will be taken against you and you will be declared wanted.”

Real Points Report gathered that as of the end of December 2023, Olorunsola had not honoured the police invitation giving the police no other option to launch manhunt for him.

Effort to get the management of Independent News Express to speak on this issue proved abortive as telephone calls to the Editor was not answered.
