Adejoke Adefulire, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SSAP-SDGs)

Report making rounds the social media by some online news outlets that Adejoke Adefulire, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SSAP-SDGs), paid a restaurant N147.1m to build classrooms at Ajeromi/Ifelodun LGA in Lagos was not true.

The report alleged that Enseno Global Ventures Ltd, which the OSSAP-SDGs awarded the contracts to build classrooms in Ajeromi/Ifelodun LGA is a restaurant. Findings, however, revealed that Enseno Global Ventures Ltd is into more businesses such as construction and general supplies which makes the company qualified to handle the contract.

Further investigations also revealed that the project was actually located in Ajeromi/Ifelodun local government. An OSSAP-SDGs classroom project was commissioned by the Executive Chairman of Ajeromi/Ifelodun LGA, Hon. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola in August 2023.

It was gathered that the relocation of the project from the initial site was done by the chairman of the Ajeromi/Ifelodun local government in a bid to ensure even distribution of projects in his local council, which was in tune with the practice of OSSAP-SDGs to change the location of project sites after it might have informed the state government or local government where those projects are sited all over the country.

OSSAP-SDGs has indeed carried out the renovation of blocks of classrooms at Ajeromi/Ifelodun primary school. At the same time, it has also carried out the construction of a resources/acquisition centre and the construction of six blocks of classrooms at Akarigbo primary school, all in Ajeromi/Ifelodun local government.

Findings revealed that it has been the usual practice for OSSAP-SDGs to relocate a project, even after the contractor has been mobilised. The purpose is to ensure a balanced distribution of SDG projects across the country. Therefore, the relocation of six blocks of classrooms from  Ajeromi/Ifelodun primary school to Akarigbo primary school which has not benefited from the SDGs project was not done outside the due process.
