The chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in FCT, Mr. Ndubueze Chidoka, on Monday morning led sporting media within the nation’s capital to visit and condole the management and staff of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) over the demise of General Manager (GM) Mr Henry Effiom.
Mr Effiom who headed NTA Sports died late Thursday, August 18, 2022.
While receiving the SWAN delegation on behalf of management, the acting GM NTA Sports Soni Uboh revealed that already late Effiom’s family has scheduled September 9, 2022, as his burial date in Calabar, Cross River state capital.
He commended the SWAN FCT leadership for rallying around NTA since the demise of their colleague.
The acting GM described late Effiom as a dedicated man who put in his best in the service of mankind while alive.
Earlier, SWAN FCT chairman, Mr. Chidoka, who expressed shock, condoled with the entire NTA and media family over the demise of the late General Manager.
The SWAN leader in Abuja also assured of Sports Writers’ readiness to be part of funeral activities.
“We got to know about the unfortunate demise of our colleague on Saturday and I was particularly shocked. We pray that God gives us and his immediate family the fortitude to bear the loss,” he prayed.
