Founder and National President of the Standup for Women Society (SWS), Barrister Deborah Ijadele-Adetona, has been honoured as a “Global Woman of Influence” at an award ceremony in Singapore.

The award was presented on September 19, 2026, in recognition of Ijadele-Adetona’s leadership and advocacy for women and girls.

In a statement issued by its Office of the Deputy Director-General, Media, Publicity and Communication, SWS described the recognition as a testament to the National President’s commitment to women’s rights, the vulnerable and the voiceless.

The Society said Ijadele-Adetona had grown SWS from a vision into a movement focused on advancing the welfare and dignity of women and girls in Nigeria and beyond.

It also commended her leadership for inspiring members to promote justice and speak out on issues affecting vulnerable women and girls.

“Your life daily inspires us to be bold, to be compassionate, to stand for justice, and to be a voice for the vulnerable women and girls in our society and the nation at large,” the statement said.

SWS said the international recognition was a source of pride for its members and Nigeria, while expressing hope that it would provide additional opportunities for Ijadele-Adetona to expand her advocacy and humanitarian work.

The statement was signed by Ladi Dinci Emmanuel, Deputy Director-General, Media, Publicity and Communication, SWS, on behalf of the National Executives, State Chapters and members of the organisation in Nigeria and the Diaspora.
